Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Your choice of sausage (e.g., Italian sausage, smoked sausage, or bratwurst) Preferably nitrate and sugar free for best outcome.

  • 1 Medium onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 Medium Green cabbage, thinly sliced

  • 2 Tablespoons Olive oil

  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • Slice the sausage into bite-sized pieces. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced sausage to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set it aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced onion and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until they start to soften and turn translucent.
  • Add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet with the onions. Toss to combine. Cook the cabbage and onions for about 8-10 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly caramelized. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking
  • Once the cabbage and onions are cooked to your liking, return the cooked sausage to the skillet. Toss everything together. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot and enjoy!
